What is Art Therapy?
Art therapy is the use of creating art and creative processes in a therapeutic setting to express feelings and explore experiences.
Through the engagement with art materials and the creative process, I support clients to explore and express ideas, thoughts and feelings that may be difficult to articulate into words.
It is holistic practice that attends to emotional, cognitive, physical and spiritual well-being.
What if I’m not good at art?
You don’t need any art experience to take part. The purpose of Art Therapy is to provide a safe and supportive space to explore and engage in the creative process.
Creating art can help you to heal because it allows you to express yourself, focusing on your emotions and relaxes you. It also helps you to connect with other people.
A key feature of Art Therapy is that the processes are often pleasurable, meaning that using the arts we are more likely to practice new patterns of healthy behaviours.
